Reviews
This is my second time coming here and the first after recently moving. I really enjoyed the amazing service. Plenty of parking in the back and a great ambiance with music and sports on tv in the background. We ordered the shrimp as an appetizer and I really enjoyed it. I also loved the molcajete and the chips and salsa. I'll definitely be coming back again.
Dos compadres is one of our favorite places to go on a Sunday. Food is delicious. We love to get the morcajeta and share. Wait time to get seated the last few visits has been taking a while. Place is nice and clean. Love their mimosas.
I have never been to Dos Compadres before. We were in the area (McHenry Avenue in Modesto) with a friend, and I hardly ever have Mexican food! I love Mexican food. However, when we dine out, we usually end up somewhere else. It was clean and visually appealing inside. Lots of colorful displays of papel picado, "punched" or "perforated" paper. The flowers are pretty, and the booth we sat in was roomy and comfortable. The waitress was sweet and on top of it! She was friendly and helped us navigate the menu, since it was our first time at this restaurant. I was appreciative for her suggestions. She also brought everything in a timely manner, even when they started to get a little busy. My food was delicious. I asked for my camarones/shrimp with creamy mushroom sauce to not have any cilantro or wine. They were accommodating. It came with rice and beans, a little salad (lettuce and tomato) and choice of flour or corn tortillas. I was a bit sad that the refried beans were not plentiful. There was much more rice than beans (I posted a photo). The bowl hides the fact that there were hardly any beans to speak of. My plate was about $20.00. My friend ordered the Taco Tuesday special. Just $2.00 each. They come standard with choice of meat: beef, chicken, carnitas, or pastor, onions, cilantro, salsa, and lemon wedges. I ordered some tacos to go for my son, he only wanted the meat and easy cilantro. He said he wished it had a little cheese on it, but they tasted good. Overall, a good experience. I would definitely eat here again. I would just hope the lack of beans was a fluke.
I had been craving Michoacan style enchiladas so I took advantage of my son's offer to take me out to dinner for Mother's Day. I Knew we would have a wait because of it being a Holiday. Actually we only waited 6-8 min. We were seated and within min our order for both drinks and food was taken. I of course orders what I came for. My son orders the dos compadres combo. The salsa was amazing as were the chips. What I am trying to say is this place serves pretty authentic food. The drinks looked amazing but it was late for me to consume alcohol. I'm sitting here at home the following day just reheated my leftovers and enjoying every bite!
The food here is bomb! The agua de Jamaica was so goodddd I loved it! The vibe is so cute definitely recommend! It reminds me of a Mexican restaurant that would be in a tv show but in the best way possible!
